With eSIMs being a digital product, it can seem worrisome to think about what you’ll do when changing phones. Don’t worry, we’ve got the simple steps to transfer an eSIM from one phone to another.
1. Verify Device eSIM Compatibility
-
-
Check EID: Dial *#06# to see if your device has an EID, which is a unique identification number for eSIMs. If you do not see an EID, your device may not be eSIM compatible.
-
Phone Settings: Alternatively, you can check in your phone settings. Here’s how:
-
iPhone:
-
Go to Settings
-
Select General
-
Tap About
-
Look for EID
Android:
-
Go to Settings
-
Scroll down and select About Phone
-
Find EID under Status or IMEI Information

3. Save Your Data
Backup your data to avoid any headaches. Ensure essential data on your old phone is backed up to prevent data loss during the transfer. This includes contacts, messages, photos, and any other information important to you.
4. Deactivate eSIM on Your Old Phone
Navigate to your old device’s settings. Typically, you will find the eSIM section under Cellular, Connections, or Mobile Network. From there:
-
Go to SIM card manager or the eSIM section.
-
Select Deactivate on your eSIM to enable transferability.
5. Get Ready for Activation
Locate your QR code or activation details for the transfer. With Jethro Mobile:
-
Log in to your Jethro Mobile account.
-
Go to the My Lines page.
-
Select QR Code next to the line you are transferring to find both the QR code and activation code.
6. Get Your New Device Ready
Make sure your device is connected to WiFi to ensure smooth activation.
7. Activate eSIM on Your New Phone
Access your eSIM settings on your new phone and choose ‘Add new eSIM’. Use your QR code or activation details to activate the eSIM on the new phone.
8. Verify Transfer
After activating your eSIM on the new device, test the connection. Verify that calling, messaging, and data services are working. If not, restart your device and wait a few minutes to see if the transfer was successful.
9. Get connecting
You are all set! Your new phone is now equipped with the nation’s largest network.
